Description skoruppa 2008-10-26 21:58:36 UTC
Some time ago:
2.23.90: "- Add gadugadu profile and icons (Xavier Claessens).".

And, as this all works. I can connect but I do not have my contacts list. (the list of contacts is quite important option :P) Gadu-gadu need to manually downloading and sending contacts from/to the server but empathy as opposed to Pidgin does not have this options.

I do not want some advanced options such as transferring files or the option of choosing a server to which I hwant to connect (http://www.kadu.net/monitor/ - sometimes multiple servers can be inaccessible) - yes this could be nice to but there are other priorities now
Comment 1 Jakub 'Livio' Rusinek 2008-10-26 22:08:25 UTC
It seems that profile is only basis for Gadu-Gadu implementation, not the implementation though.
Comment 2 Xavier Claessens 2008-10-26 22:28:49 UTC
Empathy uses libpurple's implementation of gadu-gadu. so it should work as well (bad) as pidgin. But I didn't tested myself.
Comment 3 Will Thompson 2008-10-26 22:38:23 UTC
This is a bug in Haze, or rather, a bug in libpurple: there's no reason why the buddy list shouldn't be synchronized automatically. I should either fix it, or work around it in haze.

There's now a Haze bug at http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18233 .

Actually, if you're an active Gadu-Gadu user, it'd be great if you could fix
this in libpurple! Every other libpurple protocol automatically synchronizes
the buddy list with the server, so there's no reason why you should have to
manually download and upload it on Gadu-Gadu.

Honestly, it's unlikely that I'll get around to fixing it myself, mainly
because I have no reason ever to use Gadu-Gadu. If you'd like to have a shot,
feel free to ping me (wjt) in #pidgin on freenode if you need any libpurple
handholding.
