"We have an icecast server which is used for private streams and so requires HTTP authentication.

In hardy, totem would happily prompt for the information and store it in gnome-keyring.

In intrepid, it does not seem to be able to do this. If the username/password are encoded in the URL (i.e. http://user:pass@server:1234/stream.m3u) it works fine, so this seems to just relate to the part which asks the user for the authentication."

We need to handle requiring mounting, and do the operation with GtkMountOperation.

For locations that are handled by giosrc this is already fixed in GIT but for HTTP usually souphttpsrc is used.

souphttpsrc provides properties for user/password but what's missing right now is a generic interface for authentication in GStreamer.
