Description Peter 2008-10-16 07:48:42 UTC
Please describe the problem:
When "Show position of pointer when the Control key is pressed" option is checked keyboard shortcuts involving the control key do not work.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open mouse preferences dialogue (System -> Preferences -> Mouse)
2. Check the box next to "Show position of pointer when control key is pressed" and click "close".
3. Type cntrl+alt+L to lock the screen (default setting).

Actual results:
Nothing - in particular it's worth mentioning that the position of the pointer is not 'shown' when the control key is pressed or released as part of Cntrl+Alt+L.

Expected results:
I expected the screen to lock.

Does this happen every time?
This happens whenever 'Show position of pointer...' is checked.

Other information:
I'm running Ubuntu Intrepid (pre-release), fully patched as of 2008-10-16 20:00 NZDT.

There are a number of bug reports over at launchpad, eg: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/217685
which ends with: Sebastien Bacher: "could somebody having the issue send it to bugzilla.gnome.org where people writting the software will read the bug?"

Someone commenting on http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=525526 seems to alude to this issue, implying that the bug report is related to this setting, but is in fact unrelated.

This has nothing to do with libgnome!

I think the setting lives in g-s-d (or g-c-c), re-assigning.
