I just upgraded to Ubuntu 8.10 and this program crushed instantly. I deleted ~/.evolution so if any db error is it can create one more time but it also crashed.
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug. Without a stack trace from the crash it's very hard to determine what caused it.Can you get us a stack trace? Please see http://live.gnome.org/GettingTraces for more information on how to do so. Thanks in advance!

I mad it like told on this http://www.gnome.org/projects/evolution/bugs.shtml
Crash appears to originate from the Mail Notification program. http://www.nongnu.org/mailnotify/ Hard to be sure though since the backtrace lacks debugging symbols.
yes it was the mail notification program. After killing it evolution works fine
Closing as NOTGNOME.
