GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 554894
Basic drawing function: arc, rect, eclipse, polygon, taper.
Last modified: 2008-10-30 20:16:25 UTC
I would like some basic drawing tools added to the toolbox. Most, if not all of the things in the GFig editor would be helpful. Yes I know some things such as the "move down" would not be possible (except for layers, which is already in). I feel GIMP lacks the basics. these could be added in the toolbox so you can real-time draw basic shapes. *Rectangle: draw a rectangle. Either its edges, inside or both. And options such as aspect ration, XYWH could be added as well. *Eclipse: draw an eclipse. Either its edges, inside or both. And options such as aspect ration, XYWH chould be added as well. *Arc: draw an arc. Click1 is first point. click2 is radius/offset. click3 is last point. *polygon: draw a polygon. Either its edges, inside or both. And options such as aspect ration, XYWH , number of sides (3-###) and rotation could be added as well. *Taper: add taper to the option box. Just like the "fade brush", their needs to be a taper option. As in, the brush size shrinks over distance. If these have already been planned or added, sorry. I couldn't find in a search.
Sorry for double post, but I am truly sorry for the formatting. I have no idea what went wrong. It looked all good in my text editor.
Hi. Thanks for taking the time to file these enhancement requests. However, please post your ideas to the gimp-devel list before filing bugs. The core group of developers for GIMP is small - it's better to have some discussion first before adding even more enhancement requests to the bugtracker...
This is probably a duplicate of BZ 65197
so should I repost them all? And to what devel? 2.5.0, 2.5.1,.....,2.5.4? or could you/someone move them. Also I have IRC, so if that would be better, I'll do that instead.
It's best to discuss proposals on the Gimp Developer mailing list. You may find a list of ML here: http://www.gimp.org/mail_lists.html And here are IRC channels: http://www.gimp.org/irc.html
