GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 554028
integrated help and support for JPEG2000 image format
Last modified: 2008-10-30 22:21:41 UTC
I've been using Corel Photo Album, but its image manipulation capabilities are extremely limited. I'd like to migrate to GIMP, but there are two things that GIMP is presently missing that I can't do without: (1) When I tried to use the integrated help, I got the following message: "The GIMP help files are not found. Please install the additional help package or use the online user manual..." I'm surprised that I got this message, because I installed the "full" package, which should contain the help documentation. I searched for a downloadable GIMP help package, but was never able to find anything. (2) I need the capability to read and write (or at least read) JPEG2000 (.jp2) files. Adding this capability to GIMP is a good idea anyway, because the JPEG2000 format is significantly more space efficient than ordinary JPEG (about 1/3 less disk space required for nearly lossless compression).
Hi and thanks for the bug report! In future bug reports, please use one bug report per problem. (1) No the manual is currently is a separate package.9 (2) Duplicate of 111409 *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 111409 ***
Martin- I have not been able to find the package containing the manual. Can you please provide a pointer? Thanks! Phillip
I'm still looking for a pointer to the manual, if it exists.
Let me rephrase that. I'm looking for a downloadable/searchable version of the manual, e.g., a PDF file. I know about the online documentation at http://docs.gimp.org/en/
Phillip, this is a bug tracker, not a help forum. Please stop posting comments to a closed bug report. If you need help, feel free to ask on the gimp-user mailing-list.
