GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 553929
Clock applet resizes itself when moving mouse about a city
Last modified: 2020-11-06 20:23:10 UTC
Please describe the problem: The clock applet resized itself when moving the mouse about a city with a long date string (e.g. other day). Portions of the applet are not visible anymore then. Steps to reproduce: 1. (For Germany with 1280x1024): Add Brisbane / Australia to the list 2. Move your mouse about the name of the city 3. Actual results: The applet is streched and parts of it disappear Expected results: Shouldn't disappear and probably also shouldn't resize itself Does this happen every time? Yes, but depens on your timezone and the city you add. Other information: See Screenshots (Before / After)
Same here in Spanish. It reads now: "22:10 (sábado) ARST -3" That's not my home city, so if I hover over it, a "Configurar" button appears which leads the panel to resize.
I see this problem as well. With long a label for the time (typically when it's a day before or a day after), the button to "Set" the time to this timezone stays on the right, resizing automatically the whole panel (which then goes out of the screen). Probably not so noticeable in English as "Set" is a short word, but in some other languages (like in Dutch), it is! IMHO, the fix should consist in forcing the button to stay within the bounds of the panel, if necessary hiding a little bit the end of the time label.

This also happens with 2.26.3.
