GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 552769
CD may be ripped multiple times
Last modified: 2008-11-16 10:02:52 UTC
Please describe the problem: First, note that this is not quite the same as another recent bug. Once a CD is ripped to the library, you can click on "Copy all tracks to the library" again and the whole CD is ripped again, much to the annoyance of the user. The "copy all tracks" button is located right next to the eject button which is probably what leads to this mistake. This is mainly a user error, but could be solved by 1. Rhythmbox checking if the files exist in the destination folder on the hard disk before proceeding to rip, and producing an error message if they are already there. Better still, inactivate the ripping button if they are, so there's no way the user can rip it again. 2. Moving the ripping button as far away as possible from the eject button! Steps to reproduce: 1. Put audio CD in drive. 2. Open Rhythmbox. 3. Go to the CD in "Devices" tab. 4. Click on "Copy all tracks to the library" to rip it to HDD. 5. Once ripped, rip it again by clicking "Copy all tracks to the library". Actual results: Rhythmbox ripped the CD once, then I accidentally clicked the Copy all button again as opposed to the eject button, so it ripped the whole thing again. Expected results: Rhythmbox rips the CD a potentially infinite number of times without questioning the user's requests. Does this happen every time? yes Other information:
