GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 551888
GnuCash takes minutes to start if Novell Client is installed on the same machine
Last modified: 2018-06-29 22:09:59 UTC
On a Windows machine, where Novell Client is also installed, GnuCash simply freezes and it takes more than 5 minutes for the main UI to come up. Steps to reproduce: ------------------- 1. Install GnuCash (in my case 2.2.6). 2. Launch GnuCash, it will take few seconds for the main UI to come up. 3. Install Novell Client (Novell Client 4.91 SP4 for Windows), reboot. 4. Launch GnuCash again. It may takes more than 5 minutes for the main UI to appear. Diagnosis: ---------- I ran Process Monitor to observer what is going on in the background and found that it gets stuck in a long loop trying to figure out something with Netware devices. I am attaching the screenshot for the event and the stack frame for the event: "164368 4:14:55.5676869 PM gnucash-bin.exe 3756 DeviceIoControl \Device\NetWareRedirector BAD NETWORK NAME Control: 0x14018f (Device:0x14 Function:99 Method: 3)"
