GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 551750
wishlist: Sceduled Transactions improvement
Last modified: 2018-06-29 22:09:54 UTC
Scheduled transactions should provide flexibility through the since last run druid to select a transaction and enter it on any date. There is no flexibility in the current system. If you pay a bill before the schedule, you have to wait for the schedule before it's entered in the register, this is b-a-d bad. There should be the ability to select any scheduled transaction and pay it at any time. Other information: Thanks for the time everybody put in on this project. It is one of the pieces of the puzzle that is allowing me to move away from windows on my home computers.
I was thinking that it'd be nice to be able to create the next occurrence of a scheduled transaction in advance. For example, right-clicking on a scheduled transaction could provide this option. This would cover the case being requested here because one could force the creation of the transaction and then adjust the date.
I agree. I usually sit down about twice a month and pay my bills and usually this is not on the same two days each month. The bill due date is the only date I know to enter into scheduled transactions, but of course I don't pay each and every bill exactly on this date, most of the time it is some amount of days early but like I said before this varies every month. So now I look at the transactions the druid makes and delete them so I don't end up with duplicates. There's got to be a better way. This should also apply to version 2.2.7, I've upgraded and the behavior is the same.
Duplicate of bug 460989?
Yes, this is a duplicate. Can someone with the appropriate Bugzilla power please take care of this?
This is indeed a duplicate of bug 460989, but uh-oh: that bug has been closed with this message: <quote> The described enhancement is a good proposal and would be an advantage for the software. However, as a volunteer-driven project with limited resources, the GnuCash developers have their own priorities about the features which are most likely being worked on in the near future. In that sense, the current GnuCash developers decided not to work on your proposed feature in the next 4-6 months. In case you would like to have this feature implemented in any case, you have the following option: 1. Start to program in gnucash yourself - see http://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Development . 2. Convince someone who is not yet part of the GnuCash team to join the team and implement your feature. 3. Pay some of the GnuCash developers to implement your feature - ask on the mailing list gnucash-devel@gnucash.org in that case. Thank you very much. Feel free to file other bugs or enhancement requests that you find, though. </quote> Since it's essentially the same feature request I'm afraid the above applies to this bug as well. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 460989 ***
