Description Andreas Moog 2008-09-08 12:55:49 UTC
The play button is located in the lower left of the window just between back and forward. In fullscreen mode however it is located left. This may lead to some cunfusion when using the player.

Window: back | play | forward
Fullscreen: play | back | forward

NOTE fullscreen:
I am talking about the buttons of the bottom panel which pops up on mouse movement. (I only mention it - just in case there is another possibility to configure this.)

Althoug this is a minor issue from the point of stability, it can be rated as major issue from the point of usage and GUI design.

That's normal, the most oft used button in fullscreen will be the button to play/pause, so it's at the edge of the screen to make it easy to access.

It's funny.

1) You claim something but the rule is broken in another place.
2) Totem doesn't suit GNOME because it ignores GNOME's HIG regarding toolbars and it's still part of GNOME desktop.

Sorry for bugspam, I had to relax. This was the best way.

Yes, this is indeed funny because rhythmbox does it exactly the other way round.

And take a look at another media players for GNOME:

* GNOME MPlayer http://linux.wellassa.org/wp-content/uploads/2008/07/gnome-mplayer.jpg
* GNOME Media Player http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Hht7VZ29XgM/S3raQtxjKbI/AAAAAAAAWYM/pYcAGMaSXmI/s1600-h/gnome-media-player.png

Where's standarization and HIG?

While I do understand Bastiens argument about play/pause being the most used button in fullscreen, I do not, however, understand why that prevents the buttons from being rearranged in the normal view to make consistent controls.

Any reason why that can't be done?
