Description Tim Miao 2008-09-04 07:40:15 UTC
This is an accessibility bug for cheese, the effect icons do not support keyboard navigation, user can not change focus between icons with keyboard navigation.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Start cheese, press <Tab> to move focus onto "Effects" button.
2. Press <Enter> to popup effects icons.
3. Press <Tab> or <Arrow> to try to move focus onto icons.

Expected result:
User could move focus onto icons, and use keyboard to browse/select/cancel different effect icon.

Actual result:
The focus can not be put to icons, it can not support keyboard navigation.

afaik the tab key is needed for navigation through gtkwidgets. also just with the arrow keys i cant imagine any sane navigating of the effects.
Comment 2 Tim Miao 2008-09-10 02:43:03 UTC
I think arrow keys might be suitable for effects. I'll copy this bug to Mike and try to get some feedback from him.

we will fix this bug for 2.26, as feature freeze already was. this will feature then a live preview (hopefully)
Comment 4 elaine 2009-03-01 13:09:33 UTC
Is there any chance this bug could be fixed in 2.26 cycle?
Comment 5 Filippo Argiolas 2009-03-01 21:17:09 UTC
I'm afraid but there is no real chance to get it fixed within this cycle.
We're already in UI freeze and, most important, we've been in lack of manpower lately. Both me and Daniel have been really busy with the university in the past few months and had really little time to hack on Cheese.

There is some better chance to fix it for 2.28 since there is usually more time for hacking during the summer.
As a side note, if you would like to work on it we'll be glad to review and commit your patches ;)

bugzilla.gnome.org is being replaced by gitlab.gnome.org. We are closing all
old bug reports and feature requests in GNOME Bugzilla which have not seen
updates for a long time.

If you still use cheese and if you still see this bug / want this feature in a
recent and currently supported version, then please feel free to report it at
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/cheese/-/issues/

Thank you for creating this report and we are sorry it could not be implemented
(volunteer workforce and time is quite limited).
