Description Michael Monreal 2008-08-30 09:19:00 UTC
At least some smart folders do not show all the mail until you restart evo or delete the vfolder/folder.db file.

Examples:
- the "local unread" folder is empty most of the time for me even if there are unread local mails. Only deleting the vfolder/folder.db file seems to help here.

- While testing a "To Do" smart folder (showing all mail which was marked as "todo") I found that it shows the todo-marked mail correctly, but only after a restart. On another test, this didn't work. I then deleted vfolder/folder.db and again it worked (a single marked mail showed up correctly in the search folder after restart).

Is this still valid?
Comment 2 Michael Monreal 2008-09-12 07:27:05 UTC
Issue #1 seems to be gone since yesterday.

Issue #2: mails marked ToDo seem to be displayed correctly but the folder count is not reflected in the side tree view (works in the header though)

Can you give me exact steps? Make sure you have latest evo also, since we added something for noting folders.
Comment 4 Michael Monreal 2008-09-12 08:17:42 UTC
I svn up'ed,
evolution --force-shutdown
rm .evolution/mail/vfolder/folders.db
Started evo, went to the ToDo search folder (label is todo)
=> lists one mail here, tree shows none

Erm... it's only supposed to show unread mail in the treeview, right? My bad, I think it's working fine (marking the mail as unread makes the treeview display "To Do (1)")

No Problem. Anytime you see a problem, reopen it. Thanks.
Comment 6 Michael Monreal 2008-10-27 23:20:03 UTC
I'm quite busy atm but I managed to do a recent build now and test some more and I found "local unread" still broken (or broken again?)

"local unread" still gets "stuck" at times, displaying unread count even with no unread mail (have to delete folder.db).

Also, sometimes it shows some unread mail and I also see unread mail in some of the folders... bold folder name and cound that is, because opening those folders does not show any new mail until I restart evo.

Very frustrating this way, sadly I still don't see a pattern, it seems to happen totally randomly :(

Michael, Lemme run with it again. I assume you are using 2.24.1

New screenshot

In the hope of simplifying my rss workflow I tried to create a search folder with all unread feed items, as seen on the screenshot. I'm running 2.27.x here atm and it looks like the same bug, still.
Comment 9 Michael Monreal 2009-06-03 16:29:13 UTC
Eh... just realized that I did a screenshot of "Local unread" and not the vfolder I intended to screenshot (which would have been empty because my rule was broken). Anyway, the screenshot still shows the same problem.
Comment 10 Srinivasa Ragavan 2009-06-20 18:19:26 UTC
The folder tree loosing count is the problem. Im closing this as dupe with other similar ones.
