GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 548925
new profile dialogue needs improvements
Last modified: 2008-08-22 06:38:44 UTC
I consider myself an experienced computer user but I was barely able to complete the default dialogue for a new profile. Let me elaborate what needs to be improved. * The second window containing forms is totally confusing to casual computer users. It is asking for language code, character set and transfer encoding. This is expert information. There is no way to just skip those fields and complete the profile. -> We should at least enter some sane default values or offer drop down boxes with some options, or better both. Add some text that recommends to use the defaults if unsure. * A bit more desriptive text. There are just form fields and two or three words description for each. I am missing some text like "Please fill out the forms below to complete the profile".
Created attachment 117161 [details] third new profile wizard window screenshot depicting third new profile wizard window. it is totally confusing to common translators since it is asking for expert information and not even giving suggestions or options.
