Description Frederic Crozat 2008-08-19 17:23:21 UTC
Starting with new dbus rewrite of gnome-session, gnome-session-remove CLI tool no longer exists. I'm afraid it might be breaking some ISV tools (not 100% sure) and without it, there is no easy way to stop and remove a program for the running session.
Comment 1 William Jon McCann 2008-08-19 17:32:39 UTC
Just for the record, not really the dbus work per se. It wasn't in trunk at all in 2.23 as far as I know.

Can anyone suggest a workaround for this? Especially regarding the removal of Metacity from the session.

Assuming that this problem is obsolete nowadays.

If you can still reproduce this problem with a recent version (currently: 3.38) of GNOME / gnome-session, then please report this at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gdm/-/issues/ and follow https://wiki.gnome.org/Community/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines - thanks a lot!
