GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 547831
Change nautilus default thumbnail size from 96 to 48
Last modified: 2010-06-27 10:12:49 UTC
Hey, Since gnome 2.20 we have this new setting in nautilus->icon_view (gconf-editor: /apps/nautilus/icon_view/thumbnail_size). By default that value is set to: "96" while the default icon size of all the desktop icons is: 48. Now i was hoping we could change this to make the icons and the thumbnails the same size. A desktop looks a lot more attractive when the icons and thumbnails are the same size than when everything is 48x48 and just a few images have a thumbnail of 96x96 making it look strange. Thanx, Mark.
+1 From me. I doesn't make sense that the thumbnails are that huge and make a mess on the desktop and in folders.
This has been reported downstream on Launchpad in Ubuntu at <https://launchpad.net/bugs/497728>. I would suggest to make the default thumbnail size equal to the default icon size, either 96 or 48 for both in order to provide a consistent user interface.
yes this would make things better.
a few days ago I happened to try dolphin and it had a very great feel related to icons and thumbnails. the feel was very consistent in dolphin.
The default is a more reasonable 64x64 after discussion on IRC. Closing.
Do you mean 64x64 will be the default for both thumbnails and icons, or just thumbnails? I would prefer the former myself.
