Evolution Mail: Bug - sent folder lost (...
Last modified: 2009-08-21 12:08:25 UTC
Bug - sent folder lost (to much data) !!!!! Dear Sir or Madam Weeks ago with my last ubuntu 7.04 and an older version of evolution sometimes the programm ends by move mails to my biggest sent folder. But after restart the folder was organized new and the datas are visible. After clear the trash I worked some weeks with no problems. Today with newer versions of Ubuntu and Evolution after moving a mail to the biggest sent folder this sent folder was lost. The restart only produce a message. The folder wasn't visible and always lost. The sent folder has nearly 2000 mails. I looked in the folder with mails and found the lost file with 2 GB. I made a copy and renamed the copy and moved it to desktop. The trial to import was not successful. It is a fatal bug to lost the sent folder without warning "to many data". Now I need support to divide the file with the lost folder in two folders and import the two files. Is it possible to use greater folders/files for example with more memory? Thank you very much and best regards Ralf Stegmaier Distribution: Ubuntu 7.10 (gutsy) Gnome Release: 2.20.1 2007-10-19 (Ubuntu) BugBuddy Version: 2.18.1
You can just split the text file into two files inbetween two emails, it's plain mbox format listing all your emails in one file.
Dear Andre Klapper Thank you for the quickly reply. The trial to import with OpenOfficeOrg was not successful. The program makes a crash. I think the file was to big. So I need support which tool is possible to do this operation. Best regards Ralf Stegmaier
Solved by file-splitting and import 2 GB is a border of some programs. mbx2eml has this border too. After splitting the file mbx2elm can only translate the first file with the remark at the begin. The second file hasn't this remark. The directly import from the splitted file about copy in the folder "mail" was successful. To come under the border with 2 GB the mails from 2007 are copied together to an separately archive folder. ==> A warning to come to the border of 2 GB is needed. The best is to check before move operation and stop the move operation when with move operaton the length of file is over the border.
