GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 543940
Too many gimp brushes problem
Last modified: 2009-02-10 21:37:23 UTC
Steps to reproduce: 1. brushes 2. start up 3. whatever Stack trace: i downloaded 5000 plus of gimp brushes, now, the problem is when i start gimp, it crashes because of the brushes.. i think the brushes are fine, maybe its because they are so many... what should i do, i like all the brushes and i dont want to delete them, is there any other way to use them all? Other information:
Hi When you say crash, do you mean hangs? If it "hangs" it is probably because it takes quite a while to load 5000 brushes. If it actually crashes we need a stack trace or your brushes to try to reproduce the problem, but first things first...

In order to help we would need to know what is wrong. There are two potential problems the way I see it: 1. GIMP crashes due to too many brushes 2. GIMP crashes due to a (or many) malicious brush(es). If you systematically add your brushes you should be able to figure out which one of these two we are dealing with. Let us know please when you know, so that we can fix the problem. Thanks!
You can actually crash GIMP by installing lots of large brushes. It will simply run out of memory and die in g_malloc(). That's already handled in bug #330099 though.
Thanks for the bug report. This particular bug has already been reported into our bug tracking system, but please feel free to report any further bugs you find. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 330099 ***
