GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 543887
When using the "watch", the import can't handle spaces in filenames
Last modified: 2008-07-20 22:31:44 UTC
Please describe the problem: My music is layed out in the following file hierarchy on my hard drive: ~/Music/<artist>/<album>/<song> Many times, the artist, the album, or the song will have a space. I have chosen to represent spaces with actual spaces rather than underscores. When using rhythmbox I can properly import my music by doing Music->Import Folder. This works. If instead I choose to do Edit->Preferences, select the "Music" folder as the folder to watch and then select "Watch my library for new files", the import fails. From what I can tell the import fails becuase many, if not most, of the files have a space somewhere in the path, either the artist, album, or filename. The error reported by rhythmbox looks as follows: (10:32:38) [0x9335478] [rhythmdb_add_import_error_entry] rhythmdb.c:1809: adding import error for file:///home/jdufresne/Music/Queen/Classic%2520Queen/Queen%2520-%2520Star%2520Profile%2520-%252014%2520-%2520You%2520Don't%2520Fool%2520Me.mp3: Couldn't access file:///home/jdufresne/Music/Queen/Classic%20Queen/Queen%20-%20Star%20Profile%20-%2014%20-%20You%20Don't%20Fool%20Me.mp3: File not found Wherever a %20 appears is where a space exists in my file. Steps to reproduce: 1. Put spaces in file structure of music 2. Enable RB's "watch" feature 3. Watch as errors are reported for files with spaces Actual results: The music isn't imported, but instead receive an error. Expected results: The music should be imported. Does this happen every time? Yes. Other information:
