Description David Price 2008-07-15 20:20:27 UTC
When using a spell check program, Orca reads the context of the misspelled word. however, Orca should indicate within the context which word is the focus of the spell check--theat is, the misspelled word.

For speech, the problem is caused by homophones. For instance, if the original sentence is "I don't kno that no one has arrived yet.", the spell check will indicate that the misspelled word is "kno". The speech user will not know whether s/he left a 'w' off of "know" or added an extraneous 'k' to the beginning of '"no". I would suggest using a system voice, as I described in Bug 543157. Using this additional voice, the change of pitch or speaker will clearly indicate which instance of the word is being reviewed.

I am not a braille user, but I would think that it would be nice to know for sure which is the word under review. I might suggest underlining or flashing dots, but a braille user would be a better source of suggestions.

Thanks!
