Description Michael Kanis 2008-07-11 07:45:17 UTC
Please describe the problem:
Currently (Version 2.22.2 of Totem) the Mozilla plugin shows visual effects e.g. when streaming a webradio. However the embedded Totem control is often so small that it doesn't even make any sense.

Steps to reproduce:
1. The webradio I tested this with is at http://213.200.64.229/freestream/download/radiotop40/frameset.html (or via http://radiotop40.de if you speak German ;) ) but others should be similar. Open the URL with Firefox or Epiphany with totem-mozilla installed.

Actual results:
Firefox/Epiphany show the embedded Totem player and it starts playback. It shows those "Goom" effects in a small (perhaps 5 px tall) row above the controls.

Expected results:
In Totem properties there is an option to disable these effects, however the plugin doesn't care. I think it should at least respect this setting.

Does this happen every time?
yes

Other information:
The effects eat up a lot of CPU, that's why I want to dissable them when listening to a webradio for hours which isn't even visible to me.
I can attach a screenshot, if you need one.

I can't even get the web browser plugin to show up I'm afraid.

I assume you mean the site I mentioned above. That could be, if you have the ad blocker enabled - they do some nasty things with JavaScript. Sorry about the bad example, but I didn't have another one at hand that time.

However I googled a bit and found some american (I think) webradio with an embedded player: http://gateway.andohs.net/player/default_noax.aspx?nid=2920&sid=826&customlogo= (http://www.wabcradio.com)
On that page you can see the effect even better, because the player is bigger.

And just to be sure, I also made a screenshot this time. ;-)

	* browser-plugin/totem-plugin-viewer.c
	(video_widget_size_allocate_cb), (totem_embedded_construct):
Don't show visuals if the video widget size is under 150 pixels
