Description solotim 2008-07-07 23:34:13 UTC
Unchecking the "show contact list" just hide the Empathy task bar, but the window doesn't hide.
I'm using Xubuntu8.04

Work for me. Which window manager are you using? Metacity?
Comment 2 solotim 2008-07-09 13:37:10 UTC
Whatever window manager I use, the problem still occurs. I'm currently using "Default" window manager of Xubuntu 8.04.
Would you like to tell me how to trouble shoot this problem?
Comment 3 Xavier Claessens 2008-07-13 18:49:01 UTC
Default? Where do you see that?
Comment 4 solotim 2008-07-16 13:24:18 UTC
Applications->Settings->Settings Manager->Window Manager.
I currently chose "Agualemon" window manager.
Is the information I offered enough to diagnose the problem?
p.s I'm using Empathy 0.23.1, supposed to be the latest deb version?

Duplicate of bug #541154?
Comment 6 Xavier Claessens 2008-07-16 13:33:42 UTC
I don't have that menu... and I never heard about "Agualemon"...

Please try with a "known" window manager like compiz or metacity. There is 99% of chance that the bug comes from the WM.
Comment 7 solotim 2008-07-17 13:26:03 UTC
As the WM of Xubuntu is xfwm4, and based on your opinion, this is a bug of xfwm4, so we should close this bug-report, right? I just hope Empathy can work with XFCE smoothly...
Comment 8 Jonny Lamb 2008-07-30 12:54:23 UTC
Debian bug http://bugs.debian.org/491817 seems to show the same problems as this bug. I reported a very similar bug with another less common WM (bug #541154) and that was fixed upstream, so this supports my belief that the bug is probably in the WM.

Closing this bug for now. Feel free to reopen if you have evidences that Empathy is doing something wrong.
