As OpenDocument Format files are actually a zip file which contains XML text files as well as a PNG image file (inside the zip, /Thumbnails/thumbnail.png), I believe it's not too hard to make Nautilus open the image to show it as the ODF preview. This feature would be very, very enjoyable in most distros.
