Please describe the problem:
When composing a new email and using arrow keys to move the cursor around, the cursor leaves a copy of itself in each place (a "trail") so that after a while the screen is full of cursors. They sometimes (not always) disappear when I go over the "marked" places again. This problem occurs most of the time, sometimes it stops, but it's certain to happen while I'm composing a message, unless I give up using the arrow keys. It would be strange if nobody had noticed it, unless it's just on my system.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Write something, move the cursor around with the arrow keys


Actual results:
A copy of the cursor appears in each of the place you go over

Expected results:
A clear message :)

Does this happen every time?
Yes, in every typing session, although at times it stops, only to start again after a while

Does this also happen in other applications? This does not sounds like an Evolution bug at all to me.
What distribution is this?

No, it only happens in Evolution, Version 2.22.2, on Ubuntu 8.04

Actually, it might have to do with compiz, because when compiz is off it no longer happens. So you may be right, perhaps it's not an Evolution bug, although it's strange this only happens in Evolution (and not in Thunderbird or OpenOffice).

Almost definitely GtkHtml.  I think I've seen this from time to time myself, though not as frequently as the reporter describes.

Yes, I think it may be GtkHtml - not that I know much about the technical detail, but the cursor behaved normally when I switched to Kubuntu which runs without Compiz on my machine, so I thought it was because Compiz was not there, but now I think it's because it was KDE (hence not Gtk) - I don't know if that makes sense :)
