Description Daniel Bermudez G. 2008-07-03 18:04:04 UTC
Please describe the problem:
Fist of all, this doesn't happen every time but it does happen enough for it to be annoying.

I open Evolution and read all my mail, close it and then the next time I open it, some of the mails I have already read, are marked as unread again. This behavior also happens when you select the Inbox and mark all messages as read.

This started when I changed my gmail accounts from POP to IMAP so I think this is only an IMAP problem.

Both of my computers are affected, one is x86 and the other is x86_64. I'm using Ubuntu Hardy , all updates, Evolution 2.22.2-0ubuntu1.2

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open Evolution and read all your new mail.
2. Close Evolution.
3. Open Evolution again and some mails you just red are marked as new.

Actual results:
Old mail is marked as new

Expected results:
Old mail marked as such

Does this happen every time?
No

Other information:
In the first screenshot all mail is marked as old, then I close evolution and when I open it again 2 old mails are marked as new.

are you checking the imap account at the same time with another email application on a different computer?

Sometimes I have Evolution opened in both my PC and Laptop, but the bug also happens when I'm using only one.

I just submitted a possible dupe of this, bug 571684 "Evolution not updating IMAP mailbox." If Evolution has a bug wherein it fails to record changes back to IMAP it could cause both reports (this one as well as mine).

I'm having this same problem with evolution 2.24.4 on Arch Linux. Moving 20 read messages to a folder may mark all of them new, or any number of the recently moved messages new. It's also possible that it works fine and none are marked new (happens mostly when moving single or small groups).

Sometimes it also happens when I close evolution at work with everything read. Open evolution on a different computer at home and that computer now sees unread messages that I read from the work computer. The home computer was off and not accessing the inbox at the same time.

This happens using both Dovecot and Exchange's IMAP server and only started happening for me with the upgrade to 2.24.4, so I'm not entirely sure it's the same bug, but it's close.
