GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 539773
OOo Impress and Calc should name paragraphs starting at 1
Last modified: 2010-04-05 01:46:39 UTC
This will be a tracking bug for an OOo issue that I will file next. We've noticed that when you are editing a spreadsheet cell with Calc or editing a slide placeholder in Impress, that the accessible name for the first paragraph in "Paragraph 0". Whilst most programmers have no problem counting from zero, we feel it would be easier for the average blind OOo user if they started from 1 (i.e. "Paragraph 1). Then when they hear "Paragraph 3" spoken, they will know that they are on the third paragraph and not the fourth.
OOo issue is: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=90991
The OOo bug for this has been marked fixed, and it looks like for OOo 3.2.
Verified: Paragraphs in both Calc and Impress no longer have accessible names (which is a good thing, even better than starting the name at '1' rather than '0'. We can always implement the identification of the position/count on the Orca side of things should users require that information.) Closing as NOTGNOME.
