Description WARnux 2008-06-14 01:49:13 UTC
1. CREATING FILES AND DIRS:
When right clicking, you should ALWAYS be able to create a file or
directory; as it is you need to use the File menu if you can't click on "white
space".

2. FILE REPLACEMENTS:
As KDE does, when replacing a file, the confirm dialog should show the two
images (if images) and file times and size.

3. PASTE AS LINK:
The most common use of creating a link in Linux is to access a file or
script using the SAME NAME. It's very annoying that you have to move the file
and then rename the it after the file browser puts a "Link to" at the
beginning. That functionality is fine if you provide a "Paste as Link" context
menu item. Also provide a hot key such as Ctrl+Shift+V.

4. OPEN AS ROOT:
I had to create my own script to do this. I never should have had to.

5. F4 FOR COMMAND LINE
F4 to bring up the command line in the current browsing directory.

Also, when starting a file "search" by typing the word the textbox shows at the bottom right. At that time Alt+ArrowKeys do not work; they are sent to the textbox instead of the file browser.

Hi and thanks for your report.
Please file *one* request per report, otherwise you make it hard for developers to look at your suggestions.

The first request is bug 94618. The second one is bug 47893 and bug 134251. The third one is covered by bug 534432 and bug 314065. The fourth request will be solved with PolicyKit integration (bug 490200) and for the last one you can use nautilus-open-terminal extension (I don't know if it supports keybinding, but you can contact that extension author).

I wouldn't know which bug I should mark this as a duplicate of, so I'm closing it as INVALID. Anyway, feel free to report any other bug you find!
