Description Sebastian Dröge (slomo) 2008-06-13 09:50:43 UTC
Hi,
currently one can't import Matroska files (www.matroska.org) because taglib-sharp doesn't support them. This should be fixed as many videos are available as Matroska files and some audio files too.

Spec can be found on matroska.org.

Does GStreamer support Matroska files? Banshee supports everything GStreamer does. To test, you could try to play a file in Totem, for example.
Comment 2 Sebastian Dröge (slomo) 2008-06-13 12:02:36 UTC
Yes GStreamer supports it but banshee doesn't see the metadata of the files because of taglib-sharp.
Comment 3 Sebastian Dröge (slomo) 2008-06-13 12:06:13 UTC
Oh, and banshee can't import Matroska files at all... it gives an import error:

[Error 14:03:24.797] /home/slomo/test.mkv - /home/slomo/test.mkv (taglib/mkv)

Renaming to .mka doesn't even give an import error but nothing happens.
