GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 537220
external Vobsub subtitle support
Last modified: 2009-02-02 23:42:59 UTC
I'm trying to read a movie with .idx and .sub files where I should be able to choose my language subtitle, but totem seems to not support those kind of subtitles files. But maybe is it a gstreamer "bug" ? Other information:
Should work. Please provide an example file(s).
There are the .sub and .idx files http://labelgeek.be/burn_notice_subtitles.tar.gz (~9Mib). When I open my video file (with the same filename) there is "empty" in the subtitle sub menu of Totem.
1) Subtitles won't be loaded automatically if you don't have that feature enabled in the preferences. 2) "Text" Subtitles won't appear in the subtitles menu. So make sure your subtitle is actually loaded.
I enabled this feature and it works because my other subtitles are loaded (.srt files)
Try disabling the feature then, and load the subtitle by right-clicking on the file in the playlist.
No, it doesn't work. It reload the movie but there is no subtitles ! And my files are good because it works with mplayer -vosbus :(
Right, I've been told VobSub subtitles don't currently work with playbin. Some work has been done on supporting those for DVD playback, but not for external subtitle files yet.
Not sure it makes sense to keep this open in addition to #350311, so will just mark it as duplicate. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 350311 ***
