It would be nice to have just one (expandable) entry for several contacts in the roster, as in pidgin. Maybe TP should to that, but just hiding the redundant contacts GUI-wise would be quite a feat[ure].

There is some work in Telepathy trying to design this.

As there is already an Empathy bug requesting this feature, closing this one as a dup.
