GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 535005
Status bar looks bad when checking multiple email accounts
Last modified: 2010-03-26 04:43:16 UTC
Forwarding from a Fedora bug report: http://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=448442 Description of problem: This is purely cosmetic. I have many email accounts, 20 or so, that get checked when I click the send and receive button. In the F9 version of Evolution, evolution-2.22.1-2.fc9.i386, the status bar explodes with individual messages about checking each account. It is visually distracting and messy looking. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): evolution-2.22.1-2.fc9.i386 How reproducible: Set up multiple email accounts, probably ten or more for full effect, and check mail. Look at status bar. Expected results: Something a little cleaner and more organized. Maybe a single message that says "Sending and receiving email" with some kind of status meter maybe? Or maybe nothing would be fine too as the Send & Receive Mail window is in the foreground anyway. Screenshot: http://bugzilla.redhat.com/attachment.cgi?id=306711
I think we can keep simple like outlook which shows just "Sending/Receiving mail". When we double click the status, it pops up a window with detailed status of each account.
I just checked kmail and it also has nice status bar which shows current activity expandable. It looks really nice.
