Description Paul Cutler 2008-05-11 15:48:07 UTC
On Banshee 0.99.1 (and 0.98.3) when trying to play a MP3 file, I'm getting the error Gstreamer Resource Not Found:

$ banshee-1
[Info 10:37:43.868] Running Banshee 0.99.1
[Info 10:37:48.086] Querying MusicBrainz for Disc Release (kECM8_lkjIH.eYfX06MHfLAA5jU-)
[Info 10:37:48.411] All services are started 3.80616s
[Info 10:37:51.113] Query finished (success: True, 3.027095 seconds)
[Info 10:37:57.914] nereid Client Started
[Error 10:38:23.412] GStreamer resource error: NotFound
[Error 10:38:33.203] GStreamer resource error: NotFound

I had thought it was something specific, but a second Foresight user reported the same problem: http://forum.foresightlinux.org/index.php?topic=228.0

All other Gstreamer applications, such as Totem, Banshee 0.13.2 and Quod Libet all work fine.

This is on Foresight 2.0 with Pulse Audio. Gstreamer 0.10.19 and an Intel sound card.

Here's a weird thing: When I plug in my Sandisk Sansa E280, Banshee-1 sees it, and I can play MP3s from it in Banshee without a problem.

Songs on my hard drive in the Banshee library won't play
Comment 2 Paul Cutler 2008-05-11 16:03:45 UTC
Deleting my Banshee database in .config/banshee-1 seems to have fixed it.
Comment 3 Gabriel Burt 2008-05-22 22:13:20 UTC
Hey Paul - have you seen any recurrence of this, or had more reports that tracked this down?
Comment 4 Paul Cutler 2008-05-23 00:44:27 UTC
I saw one other user report this problem in IRC, but deleting the Banshee db fixed it.

Comment 5 Saulius Menkevičius 2008-11-04 21:00:42 UTC
confirm on ubuntu 8.10/banshee 1.2.1

this happens to me now as well. i.e. started to happen yesterday, seemingly without any cause.

i can play tracks off last.fm's "recommended" playlist, so gstreamer as such is apparently working ok.

is this banshee db breakage? any other way to fix, than to reimport everything?

any vague instructions on how to track this out ?

i can build/debug if required

I am seeing this bug too:

[Info 08:38:30.316] Running Banshee 1.4.1

FWIW, I moved .config/banshee-1 out of the way, launched banshee, readded my library, quit, and moved my original banshee-1 back. Everything started working again.
Comment 8 Neil Loknath 2009-11-17 21:29:17 UTC
I am seeing this with 1.5.1, but slightly differently than the others.

Steps to reproduce:
1) Starting playing a track
2) Let play to completion / skip to near the end and let the next track play
3) Repeat 2)

The third track to play will trigger the error:
[Error 14:24:01.995] GStreamer resource error: NotFound

I see this with Music and DAAP sources. Haven't tried anything else.

This error does not happen with git master.

I tried to vacuum the DB to no avail.

Ignore this, was due to a track in my play queue that doesn't exist on the file system. What threw me off was the fact that it didn't switch to the play queue until it was finished playing 2 tracks from the selected source.

Is anyone still seeing this with recent version of Banshee?
Comment 11 Paul Cutler 2010-02-19 15:34:33 UTC
I can't remember the last time I saw this error
Comment 12 Bertrand Lorentz 2010-03-21 17:15:48 UTC
Marking as fixed, per above comment.
