GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 532361
Graph anotations disappear when saving file in MS excel format
Last modified: 2009-08-01 22:34:10 UTC
Please describe the problem: When saving a file with a graph in it as .xls file (excel versions 97,2000,xp), the anotations (like title for example) disapear when reopening the file. Even worse, the graph simply disapears when saving in excel version 2007. This problem does not occure when saving in standard .gnumeric file format. Steps to reproduce: 1. Create or open a spreadsheet with a graph. 2. Save it in .xls format 3. Close and re-open the file. Actual results: The anotations are gone. Expected results: That the anotations stay. Does this happen every time? Yes Other information:
Please test with a more recent version such as: http://www.gnome.org/~jody/gnumeric/win32/gnumeric-1.9.0-win32-1.exe The title issue has been fixed, but export to xlsx might miss some features.
This bug has been reported on Ubuntu Launchpad as: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/312397 This bug still exists in Ubuntu 8.10 with gnumeric 1.8.3-3ubuntu2
Well have you tested with the more recent version mentioned in Comment #1?
Since Ubuntu 8.10 with gnumeric 1.8.3-3ubuntu2 is linux, and Comment #1 is for windows, no, it has not been tested. Is there a more recent version than 1.8.3 for Ubuntu? Thanks for the suggestion.
The last released versions are 1.8.4 and 1.9.4 (both versions are available for linux). It would be nice if you could test this with 1.9.4.
We are now at 1.9.9. In view of comment #1, this bug should be fixed. If you find the same problem in 1.9.9 please reopen this bug. This problem has been fixed in the development version. The fix will be available in the next major software release. Thank you for your bug report.
