Description miguel.filipe 2008-05-09 15:02:07 UTC
I believe banshee _MUST_ have a way to auto-sync its database with musics found in a given folder (the same has the Music Library folder for instance).

I will now argue why this is important:

- it is common to have a music folder, organized by hand, by the user, and used has a source of music for music players.
- it is also common to switch/experiment/use several music players.
- it is expected that sophisticated players detect new/added music when they are added by some external (to the program) way to the music folder.
- it is also expected that sophisticated players handle failures to find in the file system musics stored in its music library database (by skipping them...), since the folder might not be mounted (nfs mounts for instance) or it might have been removed by some external (to the program) way from the file system.

Also, rhythmbox handles this graciously.
I often switch between rhythmbox, banshee and audacious.. (although banshee is my favorite, it still lacks features that I find to my liking on the others).

Kind regards,
A fan, a that spend a bit of its time in this precious bug report! :D
