Description ballenato 2008-05-08 16:07:56 UTC
Please describe the problem:
Being Mozilla Thunderbird my default mail application, right clicking on a picture of Cheese gallery and selecting "Send by email" results in a new email creating with proper subject but with no attachment.

OS: Ubuntu Hardy (8.04)
Thunderbird version: 2.0.0.14

Steps to reproduce:
1. Select Thunderbird as default Mail application
2. Take a picture with Cheese
3. Right-click on it and select "Send by email"

Actual results:
New email has no attachment at all

Expected results:
The picture should be automatically attached to the email

Does this happen every time?
Yes

Other information:
It also happens with videos

it works fine here....but I've had some problems with send by email out of nautlius! After the "Send to" dialog where you can choose you mail application and insert a recipient nothing happens! Thunderbird does'nt open a net mail! With Cheese the same dialog appears but it works fine with cheese...

Could this be the same problem? A nautilus problem?
Comment 2 ballenato 2008-05-09 08:46:04 UTC
Don't think it's the same problem. My nautilus (2.22.2) "sends by email" correctly.

I have also checked that if I set Evolution as default Mail app, there's no problem with Cheese attaching the file to the email.

hmm... sounds really strange!

because cheese uses exactly the same dialog as evolution!

and you are sure "Send to" works fine out of nautilus?

the "compose" dialog of thunderbird appears? or happens just nothing after the send-to dialog?
Comment 4 ballenato 2008-05-09 13:37:46 UTC
Totally sure, it works out of nautilus.
With Cheese, compose dialog appears but with no attachment at all.

Different mailers handle attachments differently. Adding a depends on the control-center bug about providing info for 3rd apps.

you should probably try nautilus-sendto, which we support if its installed. i personally think it is not a good idea to add each mail client to cheese, so go ahead and try it out
