Please describe the problem:
The Picasa dataprovider has to make a http connection to the google.com empire, however the provider does not appear to use the GNOME http proxy settings.  As such the user must wait for a 3 minute TCP timeout.

Expected results:
I expect the dataprovider to use the proxy setting in order to connect.

Does this happen every time?

This happens to me too.
It also ignores the HTTP_PROXY environment variables as well.
