GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 531019
Disc Icon Appears On The Top Of Other Icons When I Insert a Disc
Last modified: 2009-06-07 11:44:32 UTC
When i insert a cd/dvd into the driver, the disc icon often appears on an existing file icon. When i right click my desktop and select the "Clean Up by Name" command, icons get arranged correctly. I want my cd drive icon on an appropriate place, not on the top of other icons.
I've seen this too couple of times. Also, it could be related to bug 45953.
This also happens for other icons, not just discs. E.g.: $ cd ~/Desktop $ echo " " > delme.txt $ rm delme.txt $ echo " " > delme2.txt $ echo " " > delme.txt My guess is that it's regression due to the Gvfs/GIO migration since I belive it was fixed in bug 45953 during the GNOME-VFS era.
I should just have fixed all overlapping icon issues on the desktop in trunk. I'm closing this bug report: http://svn.gnome.org/viewvc/nautilus?view=revision&revision=14519
Im running nautilus 2.24 on Ubuntu Intrepid As far as I understand, this should include revision 14519 and therefore the problem should be solved. But I still have this problem for drives as well as files moved through terminal commands. The icons remembers their position and ignores if there is an icon i the remembered spot. Please correct me if I wrong about the problem status/nautilus version.
I confirm that this bug is not fixed in Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex, which provides Nautilus 2.24.1. If this version of Nautilus was supposed to include the fix, please re-open this bug report. Else, please let us know.
In my opinion it's really funny this bug is still present after all those years. There are bug reports about this bug which are more 8,5 years old: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=45953 Linux is a good operating system if it works, but if there are any bugs it takes ages for them to be fixed (although most of them will just never be fixed).
