GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 530933
Support for semi-transparent PNG8 (RGBA-palette mode)
Last modified: 2008-10-30 20:12:51 UTC
The PNG format allows for translucent colors (i.e. colors with partial transparency information) even for indexed PNG8 images. This is called RGBA-palette mode I think. The only tools out there that seem able to create such PNG8 images are Adobe's Fireworks and a freeware icon editor for Windows called Pixelformer (though I couldn't confirm this for Pixelformer). Sadly there is no support for that kind of colour indexing in The GIMP. Hence this feature request. Thanks for the bug report! This is a duplicate though: *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 86627 ***
