Description Florent V. 2008-05-01 19:48:23 UTC
The PNG format allows for translucent colors (i.e. colors with partial transparency information) even for indexed PNG8 images. This is called RGBA-palette mode I think.

The only tools out there that seem able to create such PNG8 images are Adobe's Fireworks and a freeware icon editor for Windows called Pixelformer (though I couldn't confirm this for Pixelformer). Sadly there is no support for that kind of colour indexing in The GIMP. Hence this feature request.
