Description Reinhard Tartler 2008-04-28 20:48:16 UTC
Forwarded bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/185563

Seahorse provides an gnupg-agent emulation. However, that agent
does not work with GnuPG Smartcards. It would be nice if it could
handle gnupg smartcards, like the fsf fellowship gnupg smartcard, or

See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenPGP_card for more information
on the GnuPG Smartcard.
Comment 1 Adam Schreiber 2008-04-28 20:56:41 UTC
Is someone offering to provide hardware to one of the maintainers?
Comment 2 Reinhard Tartler 2008-05-11 16:10:58 UTC
Please note that the hardware is pretty cheap. USB devices can be ordered at kernel concepts for about 20EUR plus shipping. I bought myself a PCMCIA device for 11EUR at ebay.

Does gnome have a bounty program for organising hardware/feature request donations?
Comment 3 Andreas Moog 2008-09-07 18:11:37 UTC
Hi! I wonder if there is any news on this issue?
Comment 4 Adam Schreiber 2008-09-07 21:13:06 UTC
Nope :P but if I get a new laptop, we'll probably get support for fingerprint readers as it will probably have one.
Comment 5 Daniele Viganò 2008-11-04 22:57:49 UTC
I have the same request. seahorse support to OpenPGP card as gpg-agent do (see bug #540557).

If you have a smartcard reader I can provide you an OpenPGP smartcard.

Thanks
Daniele

*** Bug 540557 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
Comment 7 Alan 2016-08-14 09:28:26 UTC
There are no GnuPG agent in seahorse anymore, so I think this bug is not relevant anymore.
Comment 8 Alan 2016-08-14 09:29:34 UTC
See bug 644415, this bug should probably be closed.
Comment 9 André Klapper 2020-06-06 08:52:27 UTC
seahorse-plugins is not under active development anymore:
https://gitlab.gnome.org/Infrastructure/Infrastructure/issues/257

It had its last code changes many years ago:
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/seahorse-plugins/-/commits/master

Closing this report as WONTFIX as part of Bugzilla Housekeeping to reflect
reality. Please feel free to reopen this ticket (or rather transfer the project
to GNOME Gitlab, as GNOME Bugzilla is deprecated) if anyone takes the
responsibility for active development again.
