Description David Sobey 2008-04-23 09:53:54 UTC
Please describe the problem:
When adding text to a multi layered image and saving it as a psd (so that layers are kept and not merged), the editable text layers become normal layers and can not be edited again once the file is saved, closed and then re-opened.

This only happens when saving as a .psd (Adobe photoshop image layer). When saving as a GIMP layer image file (GIMP XCF Image), the text layer doesn't get converted to a normal layer upon saving, closing and re-opening the file.
So, there seems to be a bug with the Photoshop file type when using text layers.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Add text to an image (So it makes a text layer)
2. Save the image as both a .psd and .xcf.
3. Close the images and re-open. Check the layers dialog box...

Actual results:
The .psd will have converted the text layer into a normal layer (no longer editable). and the .xcf image will still be a text layer that can be edited.

Expected results:
The .psd file should have kept the text layer as an editable text just like the .xcf file did.

Does this happen every time?
Yes
