GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 529262
EvolutionDataServer backend makes beagle crash
Last modified: 2008-04-23 00:34:16 UTC
Hello, Enabling EvolutionDataServer makes beagle crash, I cannot even shutdown the dameon with beagle-shutdown. I have had this problem with beagle-0.3.5/libbeagle-0.3.5 and with beagle-0.3.6/libbeagle-0.3.5.1 and with evolution-data-server 2.22.0 on Archlinux. Please find attached some log extracted from "current-log". This bug has also been reported on Archlinux BTS : http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/10123?

Thanks. Its due to a known bug in Evolution-Sharp and a feature/bug in mono [1]. We are trying to work around it - which would mean beagled would not continue to run in an unkillable state. Currently I would recommend disabling the evolution-data-server backend till the evolution-sharp bug is fixed. [1] https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=381928
Thank you very much. I already deactivated EvolutionDataServer backend. This is not a major issue for me (was it me who flaged the bug as major ?). Are you having a contest or something ? This is maybe the fastest answered bug I have seen on gnome's bugzilla ! I whish you good luck with this bug ... and thank you for beagle. This is a great tool.
I checked in a workaround in r4730. Mono also added a fix to stop the hang in their svn trunk. With these fixes (or even just with the beagle fix), beagled would still crash but also exit immediately. Whatever is left is the evolution-sharp library crash. I will now mark this duplicate of the evo-sharp bug. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 519284 ***
