Description Gianluca Borello 2008-04-21 09:32:41 UTC
Now, if from nautilus we right-click on an archive file supported by file-roller, we can find the nice option "Extract here".
IMHO, this feature is too restrictive, and an option like "Extract to..." should be added, with the ability to extract the archive in a specific location, without opening file-roller itself.

Thanks for your work.

patch

It should be as simple as this, as the "Extract to..." feature already exists but it is currently exposed only if the location the archive is in, is not writable.
Note that I couldn't test this patch, as file-roller trunk requires Gtk+ 2.13.x and I did not finish setting up my jhbuild tree yet.

Now i'm away from my home for about 10 days, so I can't test this patch...I hope someone should test this for us.

the following comment from bug #115335 explains why the "extract to" command is not available:

> "extract to" is just absurd, why would i use a file-selector (a poor
> replacement for a file manager) from within a file manager.

I consider this bug a dup of #115335, because if you want to add the "extract to" command you have to discuss whether to keep or not the "extract here" command too.

Feel free to reopen that bug if you don't like the current context menu commands.
