package names could have numbers too so APTCHARS should be "-A-Za-z0-9," I think. Brackets are useless arround "apt:".

Some minor tweaks and that patch should be good :D

This problem has been fixed in the development version. The fix will be available in the next major software release. Thank you for your bug report.
