GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 526313
GnuCash does not support the new currency in Venezuela.
Last modified: 2018-06-29 22:03:06 UTC
Venezuela has changed it currency since january 1st. the VEB (Venezuelan Bolivar) with Symbol Bs has changed to VEF (Venezuelan Bolivar Fuerte). this is only temporary until the old bolivars are faced out. In aproximatelly 4 months the Bolivar Fuerte will become the only currency and then will receive the name of Bolivar. Bs. 1.000 == BsF. 1,00 I suggest Both currencies be supported in GNUCASH, This is the way OpenOffice is handling it. since transactions before the 1st of jan are still in the old Bolivar currency and those cannot be changed.
Created attachment 117093 [details] [review] new: ISO 4217 currency 937 VEF, mark VEB as old Thanks for the information. After comparing with http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_4217, http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_4217#Aktuell_g.C3.BCltige_W.C3.A4hrungen etc., here is a patch, which inserts VEF and labels VEB as "Venezuelan Bolivar (old)".
Applied to trunk as r17482. Awaiting backport to branches/2.2.
Applied to branches/2.2 as r17543 for inclusion in GnuCash 2.2.7. Thanks a lot!
