Steps to reproduce: 1. run up gparted 2. refresh (Ctrl-R) 3. bang Stack trace: Unable to open /dev/scd0 read-write (Read-only file system). /dev/scd0 has been opened read-only. Unable to open /dev/scd0 - unrecognised disk label. glibmm-ERROR **: unhandled exception (type std::exception) in signal handler: what: std::bad_alloc aborting... [1]- Aborted (core dumped) gparted root@ubuntu:~# gparted & [3] 9316 root@ubuntu:~# ====================== libparted : 1.7.1 ====================== Unable to open /dev/scd0 read-write (Read-only file system). /dev/scd0 has been opened read-only. Unable to open /dev/scd0 - unrecognised disk label. Unable to open /dev/scd0 read-write (Read-only file system). /dev/scd0 has been opened read-only. Unable to open /dev/scd0 - unrecognised disk label. Other information: This is running from Xubuntu 7.10 but I'm sure I have seen this with all Ubuntu variants. It doesn't seems to matter about the drive/partition layout but this is being run on a Live Ubuntu CD.

Thank you for the bug report Graham. There is indeed a bug in GParted 0.3.3 that causes it to crash whenever "Refresh Devices" occurs. This bug was fixed in version 0.3.5 of GParted. Please try a newer version of GParted. Version 0.3.6 of GParted can be found on both the recently supported GParted LiveCD, and on the System Rescue CD. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 470387 ***
