Description Michael Whapples 2008-03-31 12:56:14 UTC
Please describe the problem:
When cursoring around the console window of eclipse, orca does not always update the braille although the speech is producing correct output.

Steps to reproduce:
1. open eclipse
2. create a project or open one which will give multiple lines of output.
3. Run the project and press alt+shift+q followed by c (to give the console window focus)
4. Observe the braille output and compare with speech.

Actual results:
Orca shows the line of braille which is shown when the console window first gets focus and does not change it while staying in the console.

Expected results:
The current line would be shown and it would change with the current line changing (with the up and down keys), like the speech output does.

Does this happen every time?
Unfortunately this does not always happen, and sometimes it works as expected.

Other information:
eclipse being used is version 3.3

Thanks Michael. We don't develop or use eclipse, so it may take a long time for us to get this. If you want to try to work on it, though, please do! We're happy to review/commit patches.

Michael: Since it's been quite a while since you filed this; and since we're now looking more actively at Eclipse, is this problem still present?

If so, can you produce a debug.out that illustrates the speech and braille and that they don't match for the conditions you describe? Thanks!

Reopening. Michael if you have the request info, I'd love to have it.

Tobias: As has been requested several times please do not triage Orca bugs.

I have to say I am unsure whether this bug exists now or not. Why I am unsure, although I haven't noticed this bug recently I haven't been using eclipse as intensively as I was at the time of reporting the bug.

Joanie, what approach would you suggest? Is it worth me sitting down with eclipse for an intensive hour or two trying to reproduce this bug and gathering the information requested if it shows up?

OK, based on this and the age of the bug I am going to close it out. But if it reappears, let's re-open and fix it.

Thanks!
