Description Mike McWay 2008-03-29 17:02:38 UTC
many people have audio books, lectures, and comedy shows in their collections. Would be nice if we could uncheck files so they don't play during shuffle or regular play, effectively skipping those files.

selecting multiple files and clicking the checkbox would check/uncheck as appropriate. allowing lectures/books with multiple files to be activated and played one to the next without much trouble, then inactivated again after.

could be a better way of dealing with this use case...

Bug #341140 has a potential solution: don't even add the files to the library.

I think that tagging would be a good solution too (then you could only shuffle tracks that don't match the "Podcast" tag).

Come to think of it, maybe Smart Playlists could do this (based on the File Location criteria)? Which do you think would be best?

I filed bug #341140 yesterday, the idea being to have an Audiobook Library source. Perhaps it should be called the Spoken Word Library or something more generic. :)

yeah, suppose thats the best way to do it.
