Description Mitja Kleider 2008-03-19 13:57:49 UTC
I am using some unencrypted wireless networks where a VPN connection is necessary directly after the automatical connect. Instead of doing that manually, I would like to add some setting at the VPN configuration saying "enable this VPN connection when connected to one of the following networks" and a list to add those networks (maybe even possibility to choose from networks which I connected to before).

That feature would be great and making the VPN inclusion even better!

This can be done manually using the NetworkManager Dispatcher, adding a script which checks for correct SSID(s) and starts vpnc or whatever.

I did not find out how to make nm-vpnc-service or whatever connect to a configured VPN in NetworkManager by a shell script instead of clicking.

I second this. It would be a spectacular addition for some of us using a road warrior configuration. When we are out of the office using wireless, we would autoconnect to the VPN. Otherwise, we are plugged in via Cat5 on our home network and the VPN isn't needed.

While wireless would work like a charm because of SSID's, I could see problems identifying a remote wired connection and associating a foreign network with a VPN. Perhaps associate the wired network with the gateway IP?
