Description Jordan Mantha 2008-03-06 19:55:33 UTC
Incorrect translation
Application: gcompris

Incorrect text:
When using the "click on a letter" activity on Gcompris within the ABC menu the voice says "Click op het letter"

Should be:
"Click op de letter"

Hmm, I seem to have improperly filed this bug against the Gnome NL translations, sorry for the spam.

I'm forwarding this bug from https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/196317

I checked and this bug really belongs to NL. I contact the voice maintainer.
Comment 3 Reinout van Schouwen 2008-08-18 22:58:29 UTC
I checked out the most recent nl.po and it contains:

#: ../boards/click_on_letter.xml.in.h:2
msgid "Click on a letter"
msgstr "Klik op een letter"

This translation is correct, the article is 'een' and not 'het'. Whatever the problem with the original bug, I think the reporter must be using either an old version or a version with a translation f***ed up in Rosetta.

GCompris includes spoken voices. It's the one that as the issue, not the po file.

I have checked the original recording and for some reason it is just as bad, I'll provide a new version.
Comment 6 Caroline Ford 2008-09-03 05:06:14 UTC
The ubuntu bug has a submitted recording with the correct grammar.

Klik op een letter (Click on letter in dutch)

This is the updated sound from the same speaker as the other files. It will also be submitted to the maintainer of GCompris.
Comment 8 IvarBZ 2008-09-22 18:37:36 UTC
Although I have just submitted the new sentence I just found out where it is actually used. The game is formed to make a sentence like ´click on a letter´ followed by the letter. Not the be a grammar purist, but as there is only one occurrence of said letter, should it not be ´Click on THE letter´ followed by the letter. As is partially indicated by the poster of this bug. If a new sentence should be needed I'll be happy to comply. But it probably warrants a new bug.

I took the file above and commited it in #3548
Once you have a 'much' better version, I will re-release it as well.
Thanks for your efforts.
