GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 519627
translation issues.
Last modified: 2008-02-29 21:19:10 UTC
hi étienne, can you change #. translator : Add you in this field #: ../src/flegita.c:73 msgid "Not translated" to the msgid "translator-credits" (it's the most common name for this) and change the comment to something like Translators: Add your names here with one name per line, like "John Smith <email1@example.com>\n Robert Foo <email2@example.com>" so they understand that they should add their names? this is not clear at all, see bug 519626. other issues: #: ../lib/gnome-scan-dialog.c:476 msgid "Scan" noun or verb? -> translator comment. #: ../lib/gnome-scan-dialog.c:514 msgid "Unable to detect scanners !" #: ../lib/gnome-scan-dialog.c:521 ../lib/gnome-scan-dialog.c:890 msgid "No device found !" please remove any trailing whitespaces from exclamation marks. #: ../lib/gnome-scan-dialog.c:653 #, c-format msgid "%s:" what's that? #: ../lib/gnome-scan-dialog.c:1392 msgid "Inactive" like "not busy", or like "you cannot click on it, it is greyed out"? it's a difference in my language. #: ../lib/gnome-scan-paper-size-widget.c:71 #, c-format msgid "%.0f x %.0f mm" how to translate properly? i guess "mm" is "millimeters"? translator comments. #: ../lib/gnome-scan-param-widget.c:119 msgid "ms" msgstr "ms" what's that? milliseconds? #: ../lib/gnome-scan-preview-plugin-area.c:486 #: ../modules/gsane-meta-param.c:331 msgid "Manual" the handbook, or non-automatic? -> translator comment. msgid "" "Color enhancement produce better photos, but take more time to process and " "can be useless for text." either "enhancements" or "produces" and "takes" #: ../src/flegita-sink.c:106 msgid "Action over the scan output" what does "over" exactly mean here? #: ../src/flegita-sink.c:148 msgid "Higher level mean lower file size, but take more time to save" either "means" and "takes", or "levels" from /modules/gsfile-scanner.c: GObject *object = g_object_new (GSFILE_TYPE_SCANNER, "name", (!count ? _("Files") : g_strdup_printf (_("Files (%i)"), count)), "blurb", _("Import from files."), "icon-name", "gnome-mime-image", NULL); count++; this needs proper ngettext support, see http://live.gnome.org/TranslationProject/DevGuidelines/Plurals . current code will never work for a lot of languages. it also leaks memory i think.
As André said, the last one leaks memory, and I suspect gsfile_scanner_init leaks even more...
This problem has been fixed in the development version. The fix will be available in the next major software release. Thank you for your bug report. Suspicion does not help very much ;) Étienne
